Sunset over the M1

Whilst driving north on the motorway this evening we noticed a beautiful sunset.  I just had to get off the M1 to a safe place and take some shots.  We stood on a bridge that spans over the M1 and I can tell you it was quite scary.  It was windy and the traffic rushing below sounded like a lion roaring.
I don't think I'd be brave enough to walk across it in the dark or when snow or ice was on the ground.
But one that I will say is that it was a might fine view!

A few weeks ago Christopher and I went to celebrate one of my work colleagues retirement.
Of course my friend Elaine doesn't even look 40 near mind nearing her retirement age....
We all had a fab time chatting and dancing the night away.  There were lots of people that we didn't know but it never stops me from being friendly and of course snapping away with my camera.
Here is Elaine in the middle and two of her very dear friends.

We recently had a day out at the new Photography show in Birmingham.
We stayed over night at the Holiday Inn located near the airport and I took this shot late that evening.

We went to the top of a multi story car park to try and get some good views but there were other building blocking our view.  We seemed to be waiting ages for the next aircraft to take off so I decided to look around for plane's that were parked around the perimeter.

Here below is a shot of a Monarch airlines aircraft that was being moved into one of the hangers for maintenance.

After waiting what seemed like an eternity for aircraft to take off an army of vehicles descended on the runway.  It was a little shocking to see all these big wagons and low loaders instead of aeroplanes.
Unknown to us the last flight of the evening had already taken off, and the next flight was scheduled for 7am in the morning.
These vehicles were on route across the runway for general maintenance work whilst the airport had closed for the night.

The Navigation Pub in Nottingham was holding a band night, so we went along to support one of our friends who was also playing there.

Dave was playing a duet with another guy, singing and playing the guitar.  They were called 'The Tank Tops', very aptly called because of the fashion outfit that they was wearing... A tank top!
I remember wearing them in the late 70/80's.

There were 2 other artist/bands playing.  Firstly a solo singer/guitarist, Martin Rockley, and then followed a trio called 'The Outriders'.

They finished the evening off with a text vote which I thought was very novel.

The only disappointment that I had was that the lighting was absolutely terrible... There was three coloured lights above, Red, White and Green... The person standing on the right always had a bright red face and the guy in the middle looked very burn't out, and then the guy on the left very green!
I do hope the Navigation change the lighting lay out especially the bright light in the middle, as some of the artist struggled to see they music scripts.

Otherwise it was a very enjoyable night.

Here is a photo of one of our lovely nurse's Laura.... I think Laura been doing a spot of modelling in her spare time. I called her name and this is the look that she gave me immediately, no asking to pose, just on auto pilot......

Mothers love....

Kyle loves his ballon... But where is mummy?  Kyle says she's shy! LOL

Elaine's last day working as a Staff nurse at the QMC.  Here we have all of the nurse's, that was on duty that day.  Our ward Sister, Cathy and Dr Nicola posing for the final shot!  Hip hip, Horray!

Elaine's retirement cake! It was absolutley Yummy and what a BIG Cake!

This is Nicola our lovely ward Doctor.  It was Nicola's last day today as she moves onto another ward within the hospital.  It was a real pleasure working with her and I feel sure that she will go far within her career.  I certainly would feel confident if I was a patient on the ward with Nicola looking after me or any of my family and friends.

One of the nurses at the Hospital where I work invited myself and my husband to her retirement party.   Elaine  knew that we both enjoyed photography and asked if we would take some photo's of the evening.

I felt privileged to be asked and it was a real pleasure that we could record the event for her.  So that she would be able to cherish the memories of the evening with the girls that she worked with at the hospital for some many years.

The feast that Elaine laid on was really lovely!    I particularly liked the cupcakes below, as you can see they were all designed with a medical theme.  They not only looked good but tasted absolutely yummy!

The photo below I have called 'Charlies Angels'.... These are three of the nurses that work with  on the ward.  What a fabulous team to work with.
